The Rocky Mountain National Park is a place of astonishment. Everywhere you look, the stunning beauty of the high hills and mountains covered with green trees will please your eyes to the utmost.
The park is an ideal place for hikers. You will spend days hiking over the steep hills, yet you will feel like going further! You will also have the best drive-through experience in this park. The sublime sights along with the long wide roads are ready to lift your spirit; all you need to do is just roam around for a while.
The trail ridge road, one of the don’t-miss spots in the park, will give you the best of sights once you ride through it. The road is regarded as one of the most picturesque routes within the United States. On top of that, this is probably the highest of an upwardly paved road that doesn’t finish up to an abrupt dead end – meaning, you can drive as long as you’d like!
However, the road is open only in the months between late May and mid-October.
The park’s highest summit, Longs Peak, is something nobody wants to miss out on. The best part of this summit is that it is viewable from many nearby places around – such as the town of Estes Park, the treeless tundra, or the mountain overlook etc. Thousands of hikers climb up to this summit every year. So, if you are interested in hiking, this summit is some challenge you might want to take on!
Are you fond of wildlife viewing? Good news for you, Rocky Mountain is rife with places to offer you the best views of wildlife! The most charismatic and noble of these animals you will see is elk! It will never forget the sight of a male elk with his vast antlers, majestically spread around the head. You will find these elks roaming throughout the whole park. In autumn, you will hear echoes from the calls of male elks.
One of the most iconic places in this park is Bear Lake, and it is one of those few spots in the United States where you can drive around in a paved road right towards an alpine lake. From here, you can also have fantastic views of the Longs Peak and the Hallett Peak. Near to this lake are Nymph Lake and Dream Lake, which are not farther than half a mile. These lakes are literally heavens for photographers!
Mummy Range, situated in the northern part of the park, is widely popular among the visitors. This place is named Mummy Range because the mountains here resemble almost a mummy’s profile. Give a ride over the trailed ridge road or old fall river road; you will have the most spectacular sights of this range.
There are many more spots in this park that it will take more than one visits to finish seeing. The Endovalley, Horseshoe Park, Glacier Gorge, Sprague Lake are some prominent spots that make the Rocky Mountain National Park an ultimate destination for photographers, hikers, and sightseers all alike.
